Waiting for the peleton to reach the KOM.

Daily Dispatches
A few snippets from the day’s activity.

Jets quote to Bob, “It’s not how fast you go, it’s how good you look “

Today’s navigation award goes to the un-named Dido who directed the bunch onto the freeway on the way home. The buffeting from a B-Double travelling at 100km is NOT therapeutic.

The girls continue to brutalise us on the climbs with all of them racing to the top of the KOM hill. There must be something to this idea of training in the hills to ride the hills!

Rowdy, notoriously conspicuous by his TDU absences (usually seen lurking in alleys waiting for Lance), has stayed with the group for two whole days. What the!

Brian, Brooksy, Peter, and Kiwi arrived today providing much needed reinforcements. Someone forgot to inform that if you arrive late, you have to share a bed. Coin toss time.

Ramon and Ray Martin decided that they too would have a recovery ride but not with us. Taking a short cut to the Coopers pub saw them put 200kms into their legs having ridden via Talinga. Nice one boys.

When Perce arrives back in Melbourne, please admire his new, black “Johnny Cash” kit. According to Giovani, Perces black kit wasn’t on the scheduled shopping list but after they both passed the Coleman stand, stood mesmerised by the mildly attractive woman providing important product information about truck crash barriers, Perce was left standing with a bag containing his new kit. He has no recollection of buying it.

Riding out to the start, we received numerous toots and comments from people admiring our magnificent atheletic forms and stunning uniforms. We received particular attention from the Red Bull girls who insisted on stopping the traffic to ensure we were properly hydrated and stimulated. It’s funn how sometimes you seem to just say “yes” to someone?

We had no idea what they were offerring but we all said yes. Is this how drug addiction begins?

Perce’s Cowboy code of conduct tip for the day
Don’t wave at a man on a horse as it might spook the horse. A nod is the proper greeting. The bike version would be “ keep your hands on the handlebars or you’ll scare the shit out of you mates”.

Skoda insisted we had to wear their trendy hats if we wanted to stand and watch at the finish. I need a bigger one.
